Holidays are so much more fun when you have kids. I guess it's because a lot of the things we do on holidays are kid based and it's fun to watch the wonder and excitement in their eyes. We went to the Kaysville parade, set him out on the side of the street next to the other kids with bag in hand to catch candy. He wasn't really sure what to do so I, with my candy catching expertise, stood right next to him. As soon as candy would come close I would literally drag him to where the candy was, pick up the candy for him and put it in his bag. This went on for half of the parade and then he started catching on. Pretty soon he was picking up everything he could find off the road; wrappers, half eaten candy, rocks, and would put them in his bag. We sorted out the edible from the inedible and he came away from the parade with some good loot.

That night we went to the Farr West Greek buffet and fireworks. We go to it mostly every year. We enjoy the greek food and the fireworks are always entertaining. Almost every year, the brush next to the freeway catches on fire or we have ash falling on us. It just adds to the excitement and gives us a good laugh. After filling ourselves with greek food and after LT pushed every stroller around us and explored the entire field, the fireworks started. I don't think LT remembers ever seeing fireworks. He was dazzled and amazed. He sat still on his dad's lap for the entire show and made comments like, "woah, that's noisy" and "de fireworks go up, den BOOM, den dey fall down!" It was cute.
The 4th of July for me was one of those days where you sit back and think, things can't get any better than this.

Did the brush catch fire again this year? One time I went to those fireworks with my friend who only has one eye. He got hit in the face with some firework debris and he started screaming "oh my eye,my eye!!!!". Good times out there in Farr West.
Oh that's awful! They actually changed locations this year to a HUGE park in a neighborhood. That old park used to be stuffed with people, now there is room to spare. And, unfortunately, no fires this year or flying debris...bummer!
